Elder Care

Elder Care Mental Health Services

Supporting an aging loved one can bring moments of tenderness, uncertainty, and emotional strain. Older adults often face changes in health, independence, relationships, and daily routines. These transitions can feel overwhelming, and having steady, compassionate support can make a meaningful difference.

My elder‑care mental health services offer a calm, respectful space for older adults and their families. I provide comprehensive assessment, individualized counseling, and guidance that honors dignity, autonomy, and the unique needs of each person.

Mental Health Assessment

A gentle, thorough assessment helps clarify what an individual is experiencing and what type of support will be most helpful. Assessments may include exploring mood, stress, memory, sleep, and daily functioning. We review medical and cognitive history, screen for depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment concerns, and consider social support and environmental stressors. Together, we create clear and supportive goals that reflect the person’s needs and preferences.

Counseling for Older Adults

Counseling offers a supportive place to talk through challenges, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with meaning and resilience. Sessions may focus on emotional changes related to aging, grief and loss, anxiety or overwhelm, depression, adjusting to medical diagnoses, caregiver stress, family communication, or identity shifts during retirement. Sessions are available in person or through teletherapy, depending on comfort and mobility.

Support for Families and Caregivers

Families often carry their own emotional load while trying to support an aging loved one. I offer guidance with communication, decision‑making, caregiver burnout, and understanding mental health changes in older adults. This support helps families feel more grounded, connected, and confident.

A Gentle, Respectful Approach

My work with older adults is rooted in patience, presence, and clear communication. I honor autonomy and dignity, integrate somatic awareness, and collaborate with medical providers when needed. Each session is shaped by the individual’s pace, preferences, and lived experience.

Scheduling & Availability

I offer elder‑care assessment and counseling on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in person, with additional teletherapy options available.

In addition to normal scheduling, I provide in‑home therapeutic services when needed. This option supports older adults who benefit from familiar surroundings, mobility accommodations, or a more comfortable environment for assessment and counseling.
